Library Board of Trustees
Title: President of the Library Board of Trustees

I have lived in Woodland since 1975. Both my children attended elementary and high school here. I have Master's degrees in Social Work and Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). Currently I teach ESL at Woodland Community College. I have also taught at UCD Extension's International English Program and developed English language teaching curriculum for non-native nurses recruited to work in Sacramento region hospitals. In the past, I served on the Yolo Hospice and the Food Bank of Yolo County's Board of Directors. I currently serve on the board of Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network (YIIN) and am the organization's treasurer. As a YIIN member, I also oversee the summer ESL program for residents of Madison Migrant Center and the neighboring communities of Esparto and the Capay Valley. I served four years on the Friends of the Library Board (FOL). In that capacity, I was first a member at large and then the organization's secretary. I co-chaired the silent auction at the FOL Mystery Night for three years. While on the FOL board, I co-authored a grant proposal to First 5 Yolo Children and Families Commission to fund Books for Babies, an early literacy development project. Communicare's Peterson Clinic in Woodland was selected to coordinate the program and FOL provided grant oversight. This proved to be a rewarding and relevant partnership between FOL and a community healthcare organization. I have been an active library patron since age five when I received my first library card. I consider it an honor to have been selected as a City of Woodland Library Board Trustee to assist in providing oversight to an institution which provides exceptional services to the Woodland community.
