Ellen Burriss

Library Board of Trustees

My name is Ellen Burriss and I have been a resident of Woodland since 1967. I have 2 grown sons and several grandchildren. Following High School I attended Nursing School in Oakland, followed by employment at Woodland Healthcare (WHC) in 1967. My career at WHC spanned 39 years primarily as Director of Emergency Services and then, all Clinics. My education expanded with a BS in Nursing and a Masters in Health Services Administration. Other employment tracked me to UC Davis Medical Center as Manager of Clinical Resource Management, followed by my return to Woodland as Director of the WHC Foundation. Following a brief retirement I accepted my current position as a CNA Competency Evaluator for the American Red Cross and State of CA. I have served on multiple Boards and Committees, am a Rotarian and an active participant in several volunteer opportunities. I have been a member of the Friends of the Library Board, the Rose Club, and am a Master Gardener. Most importantly I consider myself a lifelong and prodigious reader who is involved in Book Clubs, volunteers as a shelver at Woodland Library, is a past tutor for Literacy and is actively introducing the joys of reading and the Library to my grandchildren. I am honored to be selected as a City of Woodland Library Board of Trustees member and look forward to participating in the planning of its bright future.
