If you have questions, you may contact the Traffic Division Sergeant, Ted Ruiz, at 530-661-7843.

  2. Street Closure Rules and Procedures*

This informational letter is designed to assist you in the closure of your street in order to restrict traffic for the purpose of holding a private function. There are certain rules that apply in the closure of a street and those rules must be adhered to in order to reduce the chance of injury to a member of your party by a motor vehicle. *It is important to note that although you have signs properly posted; the chance that a motor vehicle could still enter the closed street always exists. Because of that, it is necessary to always remain on alert for motor vehicles.

Street barricades shall be posted at each end of the section of the street to be closed. They shall be placed at an intersection or other suitable point of detour for motor vehicles. Placing barricades mid-block is not allowed. Mid-block placement of barricades causes motor vehicles to be forced to U-Turn and is not in the best interest of safety or smooth traffic flow.

Barricades shall consist of at least on “A” frame type of barricade for each end of the street to be closed. For maximum visibility, orange traffic cones are recommended and should be used in conjunction with the “A” frame barricades. The cones should extend across both lanes of the roadway. A “STREET CLOSED” sign shall be attached to each “A” frame barricade. The sign shall be at least 30 inches by 30 inches and in the shape of a diamond. The sign shall have a white background with black letters, with each letter measuring no less than 6 inches tall.

** A SPACE OF AT LEAST 20 FEET WIDE WITHIN THE BARRICADE AREA MUST BE KEPT OPEN DURING THE CLOSURE FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLE ACCESS **

If at any time during the street closure, the street will be closed during darkness, then the “A” frame barricades SHALL BE LIGHTED. The light used on each barricade shall be yellow in color and of a regulation flashing type design, specifically for use with traffic barricades.

Barricades and cones shall be completely removed from the street as soon as there is no longer a need for the street to be closed. All barricades, signs and cones shall be obtained at the expense of the person(s) obtaining the street closure permit. (Rental companies in the area that rent all of the necessary equipment are listed in the local phone book yellow pages under “RENTAL SERVICE STORES & YARDS”.)

Should you have any questions regarding your street closure, please contact the Woodland Police Department’s Traffic Division at (530) 661-7843.

I have read, understand, and agree to follow all of the above listed street closure rules and procedures.
