Compost Bin Rebate

  1. COMPOSTING IS NATURE'S WAY OF RECYCLING!
    Composting provides a positive economic and environmental benefit by reducing yard waste in our streets and food waste in the landfill turning organic materials into rich soil amendments. Compost adds nutrients to our yards and gardens and helps control weeds and retain soil moisture.
  2. ELIGIBILITY / TERMS & CONDITIONS
    • Rebate is for residents, businesses, or schools within city limits that purchase up to 2 backyard compost bins, and/or vermicompost bins, or a mixture of two; OR 1 electric kitchen composter.
    • Purchases must be made between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023. Limit 2 bins OR 1 electric kitchen composter per household every 2 years.
    • Applications must be received within 90 days of purchase and during the same fiscal year. All rebates are first-come, first-serve. Fund availability is not guaranteed. Visit www.cityofwoodland.org/rebates or call (530) 661-2063 for fund availability.
    • Compost/vermicompost bin rebate is for the purchase price or $100, whichever is less. Limit $200 per applicant. The applicant may purchase two of the same type of bin. 
    • Electric kitchen composter rebate is for the purchase price or $200, whichever is less. Limit $200 per applicant.
    • Electric kitchen composters must be preapproved. Lomi Home Composter, Tero, Tero Plus, and Vitamix Foodcycler are approved. Please email recycle@cityofwoodland.org with the make and model and a link to the website for all other models.
    • Rebates cannot cover additional filters, charcoal, or other consumables needed to operate composters.
    • The City does not endorse any brands or guarantee the effectiveness of any product.
    • Bins/composter must be installed before a rebate will be given.
    • Applicant agrees to use the bin(s) or composter to help reduce food waste and eliminate green waste in the streets.
    • Bins and composters are subject to random inspection by the City of Woodland.
    • Applicant allows the City of Woodland to reference this project and use photographs in outreach materials
