Tip of the Month

Cool down and save!

Save energy and money in the hot summer months by setting your thermostat to 78 degrees when you're home and 85 degrees when you're away.

Plastic Bottles

Recycle Often. Recycle Right.

Follow these simple tips for success:

  • Recycle all bottles, cans, paper, and cardboard. Recycling these materials helps to conserve resources by reusing the plastic, aluminum, paper, and cardboard to create new things.

  • Keep items clean and dry. Food and liquid in a recycling bin can mix with otherwise good paper and cardboard - turning recyclables into trash.

  • Place only loose recyclables into recycling bins.  Plastic trash bags can shut down an entire recycling plant. Plastic bags, chip bags, wrappers, plastic wrap and other trash should be placed in your trash bin.

Questioning Your Water Use?

On average, we use 30 - 60% of our water outdoors!

  • View your water use. Use our free customer portal, Aquahawk, to look for patterns such as water use that reoccurs at the same time on several days. Visit CityofWoodland.org/MyWaterUse.

  • Check up on your irrigation. The average landscape is over-watered by as much as 50 percent! Viewing your water use in Aquahawk should help determine when your irrigation is running. Run your system manually to check for any broken sprinkler heads or pipes. If you need help properly scheduling your irrigation, visit BeyondtheDrought.com

  • Who to call? For questions about your water use, Aquahawk, or ideas to improve irrigation efficiency, please call Water Conservation at (530) 661-2067. For questions about water rates, the water utility assistance program, or to make a payment, please call Finance at (530) 661-5831.
