Tip of the Month

Time to bring out the pumpkins, cobwebs, and creativity, because spooky season is finally here!

This Halloween, skip purchasing a plastic pumpkin bucket and find something at home that can be used as a trick-or-treat bag. To collect yummy treats consider using a bucket, reusable bag, or pillowcase you already have at home. If you can’t resist getting something new, seek out a reusable shopping bag in a spooky color or pattern that can be used year after year.

Avoid a Scary Mess This Season

Pumpkins make fun and festive decorations for the fall holidays, but they can also bring bugs and rodents to your yard if not properly handled. Remember to place your old pumpkins and gourds into your organics cart to be composted instead of in your green waste street pile, where it can attract pests, get run over, and create a mess in the street. Now that’s scary!

Imagine a Day Without Water

What would you do if you couldn’t turn on the tap and get clean drinking water, or if you flushed the toilet and wastewater didn’t go anywhere. What would that day be like?

Imagine a Day Without Water is dedicated to raise awareness and educate others about the value of water. On October 21, everyone with a water story is invited to join in the effort. Tell us what is the value of water in your daily life? Share video, images, or
live-stream and use #ValueWater to participate.
