Tip of the Month

Thinking about giving your loved one a bouquet of flowers? Consider opting for a
long-lasting plant instead. There are many options to choose from such as mini roses, orchids, and herbs. Not only will they last a lot longer than cut flowers, your loved one will also be able to enjoy them day after day.

Street Piles

Green Waste Street Piles Return to Monthly Pick-up

Reminder: Street pile collections returned to monthly pick-ups on February 1st. If you have extra tree branches and yard debris from the recent storms, try to use the organics cart as much as possible before placing the pile out in the street. To view your collection schedule, visit www.EnviroWoodland.org/WasteWizard.

We will not be tagging piles for being out too early this month as we understand the circumstances. However, please make sure that the piles still follow the green waste rules so that they do not get skipped during collection. Click here to view the green waste rules.

Is your landscape pollinator friendly and water efficient? Consider showcasing your hard work at our 2021 Virtual Water-Wise Landscape Tour. Each spring the City of Woodland features environmentally-friendly landscapes, that are filled with color from beautiful plants, well suited to our Mediterranean climate. Some landscapes include California natives, succulents, low-water grasses, and cacti.

Water Drop Shaped as a Heart

Fall in Love with Water Savings

As we continue to spend a majority of our time at home, show your landscape some love with mulch. By adding 3 inches of mulch, you can retain moisture in the soil, reduce weed growth, and make your landscape more attractive. While organic mulch will decompose and need to be replaced over time, it will add nutrients into the soil and improve its organic structure in the process.

The City of Woodland has mulch rebates (up to $100) available for residential and commercial properties. Visit EnviroWoodland.org/Rebates to learn more.
