The City of Woodland this month completed improvements at Harris Park (100 Imperial Street) with funding through a $149,125 State Housing-Related Parks Program grant awarded the City in 2015. Grant funds paid for the removal of the existing play equipment and sand in the children’s play area. The play equipment was more than 20-years-old. New equipment installed includes a climbing dome, a traditional play structure, and swings. The climbing dome is a first for Woodland parks and challenges children to use/build their upper body as they navigate the ropes in the dome. Engineered wood fiber replaced the sand in the play area and is compliant with current safety requirements. The design for the play equipment was chosen by Woodland residents at an August 26, 2017 neighborhood meeting held at Harris Park. Residents were presented with three designs at the meeting and given an opportunity to vote on their preferred design.
