In advance of the Independence Day holiday, the City reminds residents that Woodland’s fireworks ordinance allows public safety personnel to cite anyone responsible for the use of illegal fireworks.
The ordinance, adopted in November 2021, allows public safety personnel to issue fines of up to $1,000 to those caught using illegal fireworks as well as property owners or hosts of gatherings where illegal fireworks are discharged.
The Woodland Fire and Police Departments have experienced a steady increase in calls for service related to illegal fireworks. These calls have stretched personnel thin, particularly around the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve holidays when departments need to allocate resources to the most serious incidents.
Woodlanders can call (530) 666-2411 to report illegal fireworks.
