Matmor & Gum Project Updates

Updated May 17, 2023

The Matmor Road & E. Gum Avenue Rehabilitation Project started utility construction last summer and will begin roadway reconstruction soon. We anticipate that this project will be completed this fall.

Starting the week of May 22, the contractor will shift traffic as follows:

  • E. Gum Avenue: Both lanes of traffic from East St. to Matmor Road will shift to the southern half of the roadway while work occurs on the northern portion of the road.
  • Matmor Road: Both lanes of traffic from E. Main St. to Gibson Road will shift to the eastern half of the roadway while construction occurs on the western portion of the road.

Upon completion of this phase of construction, traffic will be switched to the opposite sides of the roads to allow completion of the roadway improvements. During construction, please prepare for significant traffic impacts on Matmor Road and E. Gum Avenue and adjacent side streets including:

  • Reduced access
  • Traffic signal operation changes
  • Lane closures
  • Some short-term full road closures

During construction, one lane in each direction will be available for traffic. Access to adjacent homes and businesses will be maintained through the project area. Signs requesting that drivers consider alternate routes will be placed.
