Nominate a Name for Woodland's Newest Park

The City’s Parks & Recreation Commission seeks nominations for the name of a new park in Woodland. This new park will be located south of the County Fair Mall and north of the Woodland Community & Senior Center in the subdivision currently under construction by Lennar Homes. The approximately 1.5 acre park will include a play area with a playground for 2-12 year olds, a shade structure with picnic tables, and grass for open play. Staff anticipates that this new park will be open by the end of the year.

Potential names must fulfill one of the following criteria:

  1. The name has local topographic, community, or historic significance or relates to an unusually significant feature of the facility generally recognized and known throughout the city, or
  2. The name honors a person that has made a substantial volunteer contribution to our community, providing a broad recreational or environmental benefit to Woodlanders, or
  3. The name honors a person whose life or circumstances provides a compelling community-wide interest or sentiment.

Nomination forms are available online at www.cityofwoodland.org/csd or by calling the Woodland Community Services Department at (530) 661-2000. Nomination forms can be mailed to the Community Services Department, 2001 East Street, Woodland, CA 95776 or emailed to woodlandCSD@cityofwoodland.org. All forms must be received by May 1 at 5 PM.

The Parks & Recreation Commission will consider potential park names at their May 22 meeting at 6:30 PM at City Hall. A naming recommendation from the Parks & Recreation Commission is anticipated to be considered by the City Council at the June 6 City Council meeting.
