[ARCHIVED] Woodland’s Community Clean Up

PRESS RELEASE

City of Woodland

300 First Street

Woodland’s COMMUNITY CLEAN UP campaign, Saturday, September 19, 2020.

The City of Woodland is announcing its “Community Clean Up” campaign to be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 8 a.m. to noon (registration to begin at 7:30 am).

Mayor Rich Lansburgh says, “Having pride in our community also means lending a hand now and then.  For that reason I am asking Woodlanders to pitch in and help the City with our Community Clean Up campaign.”

In this event the City is asking residents to help clean up East Main Street from the I-5 exit to the intersection of East Street and Main Street.  We want visitors and residents to feel welcome when they exit the freeway.  As it is now, East Main Street is littered with tumbleweeds, debris and trash.  This community service opportunity gives residents a chance to pitch-in and clean up a section of our city.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions this event will be closely monitored to make sure we keep our residents safe and at the same time provide an opportunity to contribute to keeping our community clean.  To achieve this volunteer teams will be limited to members of the same family or household.  Masks are encouraged even though this is an outdoor event.  Participants will be provided with a complimentary event t-shirt.

Woodland’s Community Services Director Christine Engel has announced that registration for the Mayor’s “Community Clean Up” will begin on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.  Family/household teams should begin to prepare now by selecting their team of volunteers to participate (kids are welcome and encouraged to participate). We will close registration on Friday, September 11, 2020.

Teams will be registered through Sign Up Genius. To register your team visit https://bit.ly/3ha5pRk. It is recommended that a team have at least five participants.  The City will provide trash bags and tools to help with their cleaning efforts.  The City will collect the debris for proper disposal.

Woodland students participating in the Community Clean Up program can earn community service credits towards their graduation requirements.
