PRESS RELEASE
City of Woodland
300 First Street

During the shelter-in-place order issued by Yolo County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, many Woodland residents have found themselves generating additional waste at home. To help residents and drivers manage this waste, Waste Management is providing free pickup of a personal trash container each week on your normal trash pickup day. Extra trash may be placed in a durable plastic or metal container that can be grabbed by the mechanized arm on the truck in order to lift and empty the container. To ensure driver safety, trash placed in bags or outside of a trash container will not be serviced. Waste Management is not responsible for damaged personal containers. Residents do not need to request pickups of these extra containers in advance.
For those with larger volumes of waste or bulky items, Yolo County will reopen the landfill to all self-haulers starting Saturday, April 18, and will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 am to 4:00 pm, and closed on Sundays. No cash or EBT will be accepted at this time, only credit card and check payments. Customers will be required to wear a face mask or covering while using landfill services.
In addition, the Household Hazardous Waste facility located at the landfill will also reopen to residents starting this Saturday and will be open every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. To encourage social distancing, residents may also contact the landfill at (530) 666-8813 to schedule a free at-home pickup of hazardous waste. The Reuse Paint Shed Program and Big Blue Barn Thrift Store will remain closed at this time.
We encourage residents to continue to stay home and use their weekly curbside waste, recycling, and organics carts, and monthly green waste street pile services as these services remain unchanged.
