COVID-19 - Consideration for All
April 6 - U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams on Sunday described the week ahead as a "Pearl Harbor moment" and a "9/11 moment." This week it is critical that everyone follow the shelter-in-place order. Everyone is required to stay home except to get food, care for a relative or friend, get necessary health care, or go to an essential job. If you need to go out, stay at least 6 feet apart from other people. You may walk, bike or go for a run near your home. If you need to get into a car or on public transportation to go for a walk or run, you’re going too far.
Please Remember
- Keep a distance of at least six feet away from another person
- Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Refrain from touching your face
- Use hand sanitizer
- Covering coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands)
- Regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces, and not shaking hands
Vulnerable Homeless Provided Shelter During COVID-19 Emergency
With guidance from the Yolo County Health Officer and the Governor’s office, the City of Woodland has been working to shelter the most vulnerable members of our homeless population during this coronavirus health emergency.
This effort began on March 17 and approximately 39 individuals have been sheltered through April 2 in temporary accommodations in a secure environment with supportive services to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The vast majority of the individuals sheltered are 65 or older, or medically at risk with underlying health conditions. Yolo County is leasing motel rooms for the shelter effort, providing supportive services, and coordinating the placement of individuals with the City. This effort is aligned with the City’s passionate response to homelessness and prioritizes both their health as well as the safety and security of the Woodland community. Homeless programs are facilitated in coordination with Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency, the Woodland Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Street Team, and nonprofit social service providers.
Yolobus Rides Are Fare Free
Yolobus fixed-routes, paratransit services (Yolobus Special) and microtransit services (YOUR Ride) are fare free until further notice. Please remember to limit your travels to essential trips only.
In an effort to comply with social distancing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Yolobus has implemented rear-door boarding and exiting for its fixed-route services for all passengers able to board independently. Only ADA passengers and riders needing assistance will be able to board through the front doors. Due to the farebox location, all rides will be complimentary until further notice. Please read the full press release here.
Thank you and stay safe!
