On October 21, 2019, beginning at approximately 7:10 PM, Woodland Police Department received several phone calls of shots fired in the area of North & East Streets. Responding officers encountered a witness who pointed them toward an involved vehicle leaving the scene.
Officers pursued the vehicle. The vehicle continued to evade officers until it arrived at Woodland Memorial Hospital. It was discovered that the vehicle was transporting two people who had sustained gunshot wounds and were taken into the ER for treatment. Both adults sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Officers responded to the crime scene to continue the investigation and to process the scene. A detective located a male victim down north of the intersection of North & East Streets adjacent to the railroad tracks. The detective began CPR while medical aid responded. This victim was pronounced deceased by an AMR paramedic.
His identity has not yet been confirmed by the Yolo County Coroner's Office.
