PRESS RELEASE
City of Woodland
300 First Street
Dispose of unused or expired medications at the free Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event on Saturday, October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Woodland Police Department located at 1000 Lincoln Avenue. Residents are asked to drop off accepted items with staff at the front counter in the lobby. This free event is for Woodland residents only.
The following items are acceptable for drop off at the event:
- Prescription medications
- Over-the-counter medications
- Medicated ointments and lotions
- Vitamins
- Inhalers
Needles, syringes, and other sharps will not be accepted at the event.
Unneeded medications stored at home may be used improperly and should be removed from medicine cabinets. Medications, when flushed down the drain or thrown in the trash can contaminate waterways and harm fish, wildlife, and human health, so they must be disposed of properly. Woodland residents can drop off medications at free biannual pharmaceutical take-back events and year-round at several local collection bins. Additionally, senior and disabled Yolo County residents may call (530) 666-8856 to schedule a free pick-up of household hazardous waste items, including medications and sharps.
