[ARCHIVED] Register now for YBL - Youth Basketball League

Girl playing basketball

For youth who want to learn to play basketball or hone their skills, the Woodland Community Services Department is offering its Woodland Youth Basketball League from December 2 - February 15. The league is open to boys and girls ages 8-14. All practices and games are held at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, located at 2001 East Street. Practices will be weekly and games will be scheduled on Saturdays.

The Woodland Youth Basketball League is geared for youth of all skill levels. Players aged 8-10 will play in the 10u division, players aged 11 and 12 will play in the 12u division and players aged 13 and 14 will play in the 14u division. Boys and girls will play in their respective leagues. The program emphasizes the fundamentals of the game, including passing, dribbling and shooting. Every child who registers will be placed on a team.

The league is also seeking volunteer coaches. Coaches are asked to commit to a minimum of two hours per week between the hours of 5-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 2 hours on Saturdays, and pass a background check.

The Woodland Youth Basketball League fee is $120 if paid before November 11 and is $140 after November 11. Players are guaranteed a minimum of 10 games including playoffs. Due to the evaluation day and the team balancing process, there is a strong possibility that no more registrations will be taken after evaluation day on November 19.

To sign up or volunteer, visit www.cityofwoodland.org/ybl, or contact Marshall at (530) 661-2024.
