Dr. Martin Luther King Jr encouraged citizens to live up to the purpose and potential of America by applying the principles of nonviolence. Taking this principal of a MLK Day of Service is a way to transform his life and teachings into community action that continues to solve social problems. Service unites Americans of all ages and backgrounds, and strengthens communities. In partnership with Kiwanians and the Woodland Tree Foundation the MLK Day of Service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Rick Gonzales Jr. Park and will include a unity breakfast, a short program, and a tree planting to celebrate service and volunteerism.
In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., "Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.
