Dispose of unused or expired medications at the free Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event on Saturday, October 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Woodland Police Department at 1000 Lincoln Avenue. Residents are asked to stay in their vehicles at the convenient drive-through drop-off site. This event is free for Woodland residents only.
Unused pharmaceutical products, when flushed down the drain or thrown in the trash can contaminate waterways and harm fish, wildlife, and human health. Further, unneeded pharmaceutical products stored at home may be used improperly and should be removed from medicine cabinets.
The following items are acceptable for drop-off at the event:
- Prescription medications
- Over-the-counter medications
- Medicated ointments and lotions
- Vitamins
- Inhalers
The following items cannot be accepted for drop-off at the event:
- Needles and syringes
- Thermometers
- Aerosol cans
- Other household hazardous waste items
Please note that household hazardous waste items, including the items listed above, are accepted on Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Days at the Yolo County Central Landfill from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. Additionally, senior or disabled Yolo County residents may call (530) 666-8856 to schedule a free pick-up of household hazardous waste.
