On August 21 at around 5:44 PM a customer entered Cottonwood Massage and discovered the body of an adult female. The victim, 51-year-old Junying Lu, was an employee of the business .She sustained several stab wounds and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Detectives and CSI responded to the scene and remained there into the early morning hours. Video surveillance for the area was checked and a person of interest who had recent contact at the business was located on video.
On August 23, officers contacted a subject near the area of the homicide who matched the person of interest seen on video surveillance. The subject, who was identified as 27-year-old Woodland resident Rohail Sarwar, was interviewed at the Woodland Police Department by detectives and subsequently arrested for homicide. Sarwar was later booked into the county jail. To maintain the integrity of this active investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
