Mulch Rebate

The City of Woodland Environmental Services Branch is offering residents and businesses $100 rebates for the purchase of plant-based mulch for use in landscaping. A good mulch can conserve water by significantly reducing moisture evaporation from the soil. Mulch also helps maintain healthy plants by moderating soil temperature, which keeps their roots cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

In addition, it helps prevent soil compaction and reduces weed populations. The State of California's Save Our Water Project estimates that mulch can save 20 to 30 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet each time you run irrigation.
