The City of Woodland reports annual municipal greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to The Climate Registry, a non-profit organization that assists organizations in measuring, reporting, and verifying the GHG emissions generated by their operations. The reporting process allows the City to better understand, manage, and reduce municipal GHG emissions. For more information on the Climate Registry, please visit the Climate Registry website.

In 2009, the City of Woodland was named a Climate Action Leader by the California Climate Action Registry after calculating, reporting, and receiving third-party verification of our 2007 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Woodland is one of only 17 California cities to be accorded Climate Action Leader status. The GHG emissions inventories for subsequent years are compared with the 2007 baseline year to determine how the well the City is doing in helping to reach state GHG reduction goals.
