City of Woodland Accepting Applications for City Council Vacancy

The City of Woodland is currently accepting applications from individuals who would like to be considered for appointment to the City Council to fill the council seat being vacated by the resignation of Mayor Pro Tempore, Dr. Bill Marble, effective on July 4th, 2016.

The person appointed by the City Council to fill the vacancy will serve for the remainder of Dr. Marble's term which runs through the November 2018 municipal election.

Application Process:

To be considered for this appointment, interested individuals are requested to submit a statement of interest and complete a formal application. Applications are available from the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 300 First Street. Click here to download an application.

Applications will be accepted through 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016.


To be considered for appointment, individuals must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • 18-years old or older
  • resident of a voting precinct within the City of Woodland

Interested individuals need not be a resident of any specific Council District, but must remain a resident of the City of Woodland for the duration of their appointment.

In November 2016, the City Council will hold its first elections by district. Council members from Districts 2, 4, and 5 will be elected in November 2016, and Council members from Districts 1 and 3 will be elected in November 2018. Any appointee to the vacant seat who does not reside in Council Districts 1 or 3 will not be eligible to run for election in 2018.
