Free Pharmaceutical Disposal Event on October 17, 2015 for Woodland Residents

September 30, 2015

Woodland residents who missed the recent DEA prescription drug take-back have another opportunity to dispose of unneeded medications as well as other pharmaceutical products at the City’s sixth annual Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event on October 17.

Unused pharmaceutical products, when flushed down the drain or disposed of in other inappropriate ways can contaminate waterways and harm fish, wildlife, and human health. Further, unneeded pharmaceutical products stored at home may be improperly used and are best removed from home medicine cabinets.

In an effort to prevent improper disposal or unauthorized use of unwanted pharmaceuticals, the City’s Environmental Services Division is again teaming with the Wastewater Pretreatment Program, the Police Department, and Corner Drug Co. to sponsor this annual event. This free, single-day event is open to Woodland residents only.

The Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event will be held on Saturday, October 17, from 8 a.m. until noon in the parking lot of the Public Works Municipal Service Center at 655 North Pioneer Avenue. Look for volunteers, colorfully painted signs, traffic arrows, and balloons. Residents are asked to stay in their vehicles at the convenient drive-through drop-off site.
