Rec2Go, the City of Woodland’s all new mobile recreation program, will be kicked off on July 21st at Woodland Farmer’s Market from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Woodland Healthcare (1325 Cottonwood Street). “Rec2Go” is Bringing the Fun 2 You; staff will be on hand with free games and activities for all.
This new program offers organized activities, crafts, and games. All Rec2Go activities are free and open to youth of all ages including parachute games, board games, ball games, and more. Rec2Go is scheduled to be at designated locations and events in Woodland throughout the remainder of the summer including at the Yolo County Fair (August 19-23). The next Rec2Go event will be at the Community Swim Center (adjacent to Woodland High School, 155 N. West Street) on July 23rd from 12:30 – 4:30 pm and later that day from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Jeff Roddy Park (264 Mallard Drive).
Rec2Go is the City of Woodland’s first ever all-electric vehicle to the fleet. The Zenith electric cargo van is the only one of its weight class that has been certified by the State of California to be driven within the state to date. State of California provided $50,000 in funding through its Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Program (HVIP). In addition to the HVIP voucher, the City received $10,000 in additional funding through CARB. It is estimated approximately $18,000 will be saved in fuel costs over the lifetime of the van. Not only will this electric van be a significant cost saver, but it will also represent another great step towards the City meeting its energy goal.
Rec2Go is another program made possible with funding from Measure J. For more information, contact Woodland Community Services Department at 661-2000 or visit Rec2Go.org to view the complete calendar for all of Rec2Go’s scheduled activities and events.
