The public is invited to a Clark Field 85th Birthday celebration at 9:30 am on May 30th. Clark Field is located at 70 Beamer Street. Clark field was named for Charles A. Clark, a devoted baseball fan of humble beginnings. Clark was a leader of grace and dignity who built his field of dreams. Clark was the developer of the finest baseball facility in California of its time. Clark field was dedicated on April 27, 1930.
Clark Field is used year-round by several groups, including Woodland High School, Babe Ruth and the American Legion leagues. Baseball season runs annually from February to October with the off-season used for maintenance of the field. The Clark Field Restoration Committee of volunteers maintains the field. In May 2014 the backstop replacement project was completed in addition to other improvements. These improvements were fully funded by Measure E funds.
A short program will begin at 9:30 am followed by a 10 am Clark Field alumni baseball game. Refreshments will be provided. Questions about this event can be directed to the City of Woodland Community Services Department at (530) 661-2000.
