Join the City of Woodland Community Services Department for a summer recreation program exposition “ReXpo” and Senior Art Show from 4 – 7 p.m. on March 6 at the Woodland Community & Senior Center. Outside the Community & Senior Center, food trucks from SactoMoFo will be serving food and beverages. Inside, you’ll have a chance to learn about all the summer program offerings by the City and other recreation partners and be treated to cuisine from one of the program sponsors “BlackPine Catering and Events”. Those registering for classes will also receive an early registration discount.
You may even win a Fit Bit Flex (donated by the Woodland Recreation Foundation), swim lessons or a park rental by playing a game during the event. Come learn about new Measure J Youth Recreation programs such as summer outdoor adventure trips, expanded classes for youth, teen camps, and youth, teen, and family events. Find out information about campership (scholarships) for the many summer programs. The Woodland Police Department will have information about their programs and services, as well as the Woodland Public Library (who will be bringing a special friend “Olivia” from Nick Jr.). You can also ride a “smoothie bike” from the Yolo County Health Services nutrition/obesity program. Recreation program demonstrations will occur throughout the event and there will be hands-on craft projects and a bounce house. It’s a great opportunity to book a summer park reservation.
At the Senior Art Show, senior artisans that attend classes held at the Senior Center will display their work. Artwork includes paintings, drawings, ceramics, needlework, quilting, and wood-carvings. Some artwork may be for sale. As part of the artisan ambiance and to celebrate Yolo County’s rich agricultural heritage, there will be wine tasting by Route 3 and Simas Family Vineyards. New to the event this year is Seka Hills. They will bring the bounty of the Capay Valley and offer tastings of their handcrafted wines, olive oil, balsamic vinegars and honey. Donations for the event have also been provided by Senior Center Inc.
The Woodland Community & Senior Center is located at 2001 East Street. For additional information, please call 661-2000.
