East Kentucky Avenue was opened to traffic on the afternoon of Thursday, October 16th. The work that has been completed includes the removal of the old roadway, repair of underground utilities, construction of the new road base, placement of new pavement, new curbs, gutters and driveways and installation of vehicle detection for the traffic signal. The remaining work includes installing new signs/striping and adjusting the covers for the manholes and water valves to the pavement surface. Temporary striping was installed before the road was opened. Final striping will be installed the week of October 27th after the asphalt curing period. The project is on schedule and is expected to be completed by October 31st.
