In an effort to prevent improper disposal or unauthorized use of unwanted pharmaceuticals, the City of Woodland's Environmental Services Division is teaming with the Wastewater Pretreatment Program, the Police Department, and Corner Drug Co. to sponsor Woodland's second Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event. This free, single-day event is open to Woodland residents only.
Acceptable items for drop-off at the event are prescription and over-the-counter medications, medication samples, vitamins, medicated ointments and lotions, inhalers, and liquid medications in glass or leak-proof containers. Unacceptable items include sharps (needles), thermometers, IV bags, infectious waste, personal care products, empty containers, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, and business waste. In addition, large collections of pharmaceutical products may not be accepted.
The Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event will be held on Saturday, October 1, from 8 a.m. until noon in the parking lot of the Public Works Municipal Service Center at 655 North Pioneer Avenue.
For more information about this event or for information about disposal options for businesses and non-Woodland residents, contact Marshall Echols in the Environmental Services Division of the city's Public Works Department at 530-661-2063.
