Woodland Firefighter to Cook at Firehouse World Conference

March 1, 2011

Woodland Firefighter Tara Daniels is traveling to San Diego February 27th through March 2nd to Cook with other Firehouse Chefs for the Firehouse World Conference. The Conference brings training, instructors, vendors and Firefighters together for the purpose of education and showcasing of products used and needed by Fire Departments and Firefighters. Tara will be cooking with Firehouse Chef's Eddie Sell a Fire Captain with Long Beach Fire Department. His website can be found at www.firehousechefs.com. This is a great opportunity for Tara and the City of Woodland Fire Department as we get our name recognition with our famous TV celebrity/Chef/Firefighter. The following is Tara’s Bio.

Tara learned her love of cooking from her mom at an early age. As she progressed through her time in the fire service, she continued to build on her knowledge of cooking by always trying new recipes, and working with a lot of great cooks. One of those great cooks is Woodland Engineer Walter Scruggs. After cooking together in the station for several years, the two entered the California State Firefighter Cook-Off, and walked away as State Champions. They have held that title for the last two years. In summer 2010, Tara entered her Smokin' Pear Salad in the Regis and Kelly Coast to Coast Firefighter Cook-off, and won a chance to prepare it live on the show. After receiving the summer's highest audience rating, she returned as a finalist to compete in the final cook-off. She walked away in second place, but won't let that dampen her continued desire to always cook delicious meals with love.
