Free Medication Disposal Event for Woodland Residents

Woodland residents are invited to dispose of unneeded medications at the Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event on October 14 alongside the Woodland Police Department Fall Festival and Open House. The Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sixth Street between Oak Avenue and Lincoln Avenue (enter from Oak Avenue). Residents are asked to stay in their vehicles as they drive up to the drop-off site.

The following items are acceptable for drop-off at the event:

  • Prescription medications
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Medicated ointments/lotions
  • Medication samples
  • Vitamins
  • Inhalers 

The following items cannot be accepted for drop-off at the Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event:

  • Needles (sharps)
  • Liquid medications
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • IV bags and infectious waste
  • Aerosol cans
  • Business waste
  • Empty containers
  • Personal care products

Please note that household hazardous waste items, including several items listed above, are accepted on Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Days at the Yolo County Central Landfill from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. Additionally, senior or disabled Yolo County residents may call (530) 666-8856 to schedule a free pick-up of household hazardous waste.
