September 9, 2016
On Saturday, September 24th, from 1:30 to 2:30, the Woodland Public Library will be holding its annual Children’s Pet Show in front of the library. This will mark the second year of the return of this longstanding library tradition. We invite children aged 3 to 16 to enter a pet in one of four categories: best trick, best costume, most unusual, or best look-alike with owner. Prizes have been generously donated by local pet stores Pet Factory and Dixie’s Paws and Claws, and the judging will be done by local celebrities including Diana Dearmore of the Friends of the Woodland Public Library, City Council member Tom Stallard, and Greta Galindo, our very own Library Director.
Hope Harris, a professional pet photographer, will return this year to photograph participants’ pets with or without their people in the front room of the library. Dress up for your holiday card photo! She will email a free digital version of the photograph to everyone, and physical prints can be ordered from her for a fee. Her photos last year were gorgeous and we are excited to offer this wonderful opportunity to those participating in the show!
Entry forms for the Pet Show are available in Spanish and English by clicking here, or at the Children’s Desk in the library. The form explains the rules and requires a signature from a responsible adult. Entry forms are due at the library on or before September 22nd. Animal lovers are encouraged to be spectators -- bring a blanket to sit on and enjoy the show even if you are unable to enter a pet yourselves! We hope many children and families will come out for this unique community event!
