The director of public works shall perform the following duties:
(1) Determine suitable and desirable species of street trees and the areas in which, and the conditions under which, such street trees shall be planted. The director of public works may consult with the tree commission and others familiar with the subject of such plantings;
(2) Supervise, direct and control the planting, location, placement, major maintenance, removal, relocation and replacement of street trees;
(3) Perform other duties as set forth in this chapter;
(4) Provide periodic reports to the city council on activities that take place as a result of enforcement of this chapter. (Ord. No. 1230, § 4 (part).)
