CHAPTER 14 MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC.*
Article II. Traffic Administration.
Sec. 14-2-6. Duty of traffic engineer.
Unless otherwise directed by the city manager or by requirement of law,
the traffic engineer, within his discretion, shall have the power and the
duty:
(1) To place and maintain or to cause the placement and maintenance of
official traffic-control devices and official traffic-control signals to
regulate, guide and warn street traffic and pedestrians;
(2) To determine
the spacing and timing of official traffic-control devices and official
traffic-control signals;
(3) To remove, relocate or discontinue official
traffic-control devices or official traffic-control signals;
(4) To keep an
official map showing locations of and indicating the nature of official
traffic-control devices and official traffic-control signals in the
city;
(5) To keep resolutions and ordinances pertaining to street traffic,
pedestrians, parking meters, and the like, on file;
(6) Repealed;
(7) To
conduct engineering and traffic investigations of traffic conditions;
(8) To
cooperate with other city officials in developing ways and means to improve
traffic conditions;
(9) To conduct engineering analyses of traffic accidents
and to devise remedial measures;
(10) To perform such other duties as may be
required by law or prescribed by the city manager; and
(11) To determine
appropriate parking time zones on city streets and within city-owned or operated
off-street parking facilities; and
(12) To place and maintain official signs
and/or markings restricting the places, times, and days of parking on city
streets and within city-owned or operated off-street parking facilities. (Ord.
