Article II. Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore.
Sec. 2-2-1. Appointment and removal.
(a) On the first Tuesday following any general municipal city election at
which council members are elected, the city council shall meet and designate its
presiding officer who shall have the title of mayor. The council member who
served as mayor pro tempore in accordance with Section 2-2-3 immediately prior
to this meeting shall be designated as mayor. The mayor shall serve in this
capacity at the pleasure of the city council.
(b) Should the person who was
selected as mayor pro tempore in accordance with Section 2-2-3 no longer be a
council member at the time of the above-referenced meeting, the remaining
council members shall select one of their number as mayor by a majority vote.
