“Holiday” means each of the following days: January 1st (New Year's Day); the third Monday in February (Washington's Day); the last Monday in May (Memorial Day); July 4th (Independence Day); the first Monday in September (Labor Day); September 9th (California Admission Day); November 11th (Veterans Day); Thanksgiving Day and the day thereafter; December 25th (Christmas); every day appointed by the city council of this city for a public fast, thanksgiving or holiday.
