Woodland Recycles!

Recycling is a vital part of today’s society.  Not only does it prevent tons of waste from going to landfills, it also creates sustainable opportunities in our community.  Do your part to help the environment and remember to reduce, reuse, and recycle.  Here are some examples of what Woodland is doing to help the environment through recycling and using recycled materials:

      Residential Recycling

Curbside recycling is a mandatory part of Woodland’s residential waste program and is also available to small businesses that are within the residential waste collection area. Collection carts are available in three sizes:  35, 64, and 96 gallons. They are serviced once a week year round, on the same day as your trash pickup. Woodland’s recycling program accepts these items:

      • Plastic bottles and containers #1-7
      • Paper (office, newspapers, magazines)
      • Paper bags and food boxes
      • Cardboard (flattened)
      • Aluminum cans
      • Tin and steel cans
      • Small pieces of scrap metal
      • Glass

      Business & Multi-Family Property Recycling
In October 2011, the governor signed AB 341, which requires the following to arrange for recycling services by July 1, 2012: (1) any business that generates 4 cubic yards or more of waste per week and (2) multi-family properties with 5 or more units. For more information on the requirements of Woodland’s mandatory commercial recycling program, click on the links below:

If your business or property meets these thresholds and would like more information, please contact City of Woodland’s recycling coordinator at (530) 661-2059. If you would like to arrange for recycling services, contact Waste Management customer service at (530) 662-8748.

Businesses and multi-family properties that reduce waste are regarded more favorably by customers, the public, and their own employees.  When they reduce waste, they motivate people and other businesses and properties to do the same.
