Residents can assist by keeping gutters clear of leaves and debris, and raking off the grates over catch basins. Localized street flooding is expected during periods of heavy rainfall, and generally subsides within 4-6 hours after heavy rains pass. There is no danger anticipated at this time of Cache Creek flooding which would affect the City of Woodland. Report emergencies to 661 5962.

MONITOR STAGE - The Stage at which patrol of flood control project levees by the responsible levee maintaining agency becomes mandatory, or the Stage at which flow occurs into bypass areas from project overflow weirs.
LEVEE FAILURE - The greatest danger of flooding comes from the failure of a levee. Cache Creek levees were designed for a 10 year level of protection (allowing 3 feet of freeboard). This typically handles a 25 year plus event. The elevation of the top of levee is recorded as 84.1 ft. (This is assumed to be at the lowest point on the south side levee.) If flood waters peak at a higher elevation, then there is a serious risk of levee failure, which could result in flood waters reaching Woodland. The timing, area, and depths of flooding would depend on a variety of factors, but would generally be the area north of Main Street and the area east of East Street. The City of Woodland and the County of Yolo initiated an analysis of levee break impacts, in February 2006. The results of this study should be available in July 2006 and should assist in determining proper emergency response procedures.
DANGER STAGE - The Stage at which the flow in a flood control project is greater than maximum design capacity and where there is extreme danger with threat of significant hazard to life and property in the event of levee failure. This is generally 1 foot above project flood stage. Note that for the Cache Creek levees protecting Woodland, the peak flood flows generally pass quickly, so there is less danger of the levees failing (however there is still a risk).
PROJECT FLOOD STAGE - The Stage at which the flow in a flood control project is at maximum design capacity (U.S. Corps of Engineers Project Flood Plane). At this level there is a minimum freeboard of 3 feet to the top of levees.
