Woodland Library Rose Club

The Woodland Library Rose Club was founded in the fall of 1989. From the beginning, this small club had big plans. It's members wish to help all rose lovers learn about growing and appreciating roses. A resource for everyone who loves roses and wishes to be a part of Woodland's rich tradition of rose cultivation.

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS...

The Woodland Library Rose Club has much to show for its first years of activity:

  • On May 18, 1991, the Memorial Rose Garden was dedicated.
  • The Perimeter Wall Garden of roses around the Library was dedicated on April 25, 1992.
  • In cooperation with the City of Woodland, we have extended the Gardens of the Library to the north and west with the John A. Saltsman Garden, dedicated on September 26, 1998.
  • Each year in January, we present a pruning clinic at the Library. The public is invited to attend, ask questions, and see actual roses being pruned.
  • We have an annual Spring Rose Garden Tour and Home Tour of some of Woodland's beautiful private gardens on the last Sunday in April.

OUR GOALS...

  • To continue to learn and teach about the beauty and cultivation of roses.
  • Continued enhancement of the rose gardens on the Library grounds.
  • Conduct educational tours of the Library Rose Gardens.
  • Participate in seminars on rose cultivation.
  • Continued maintenance of the rose gardens of the Woodland Library.
  • Visit other rose gardens and nurseries.
