Volunteer Opportunities

The City of Woodland offers seasonal, one time, and ongoing volunteer service opportunities for residents, community groups, and other interested parties.  Volunteering allows individuals and groups to put their talents to use in their own backyard and results in a more cohesive and vibrant community.

The City also is a partner of JustServe.org. Visit this website to learn about City and other organizations' volunteer opportunities.

The City offers volunteer opportunities at the Senior Center, Library, Police Department, and for youth programming. Please see below for additional information.

SENIORS

All of the programs the Senior Center offers are run by volunteers.  Volunteers lead classes, coordinate movie days, assist with events, and engage in other activities.   If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Senior Center at 661-2001 or click for senior volunteer opportunities.

LIBRARY

The Woodland Library offers a number of rewarding volunteer positions including helping adults learn to read, serving as a caretaker for a Little Free Library, working as a Rose Garden Specialist in the library’s beautiful rose garden, and assisting the library and its patrons as a shelf reader.  Click here for the Library's volunteer opportunities.

POLICE DEPARTMENT

Woodland Police Department volunteers are civilians who serve as extra "eyes and ears and helping hands", but do not ever engage in contacting, detaining or arresting suspicious persons or criminals.  Volunteers provide a key role in helping the police department provide a high level of service to the community.  With the help of volunteers the police department is able to undertake programs and projects that were previously not feasible because of lack of resources and staff.  For additional information, please contact the Woodland Police Department at 661-7833 or click here to inquire via email.

YOUTH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

In addition to volunteering in other City programs, we have opportunities to volunteer in youth programs.  Adult volunteers are needed to serve as basketball coaches for the Youth Basketball League.  Contact Community Services staff at 661-2000 or email to be a volunteer (coach) for the program

Other volunteer opportunities for youth include Teens Helping Seniors which seeks youth in 7th to 12th grades to help seniors during the summer with household projects such as yard work and youths ages 14 – 15 to assist with the day to day tasks of the Summertime Fun Club.  Contact Community Services staff at 661-2000 or email for more information about assisting the Teens Helping Seniors program.

Youth groups can also help protect the environment by carrying out storm drain marking and education activities to preserve water quality in our local waterways. Contact Environmental Services staff at 661-2067 to coordinate a storm drain marking event.
