On September 18, 2013, at 11:20 am, Woodland Police Officers attempted to stop a subject who was riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the road at the intersection of Cross Street and Walnut Street. The suspect was recognized by the officer as Carlos Ayala, a 19 yr old Woodland resident. Ayala had an active warrant for failure to appear in court. When the officer initiated the stop the suspect fled over a fence into a yard where he was able to evade officers. Ayala continued past the Dingle Elementary School and fled away from the area on his bicycle.

Due to the close proximity of the incident to the Dingle Elementary School, the campus was placed on lock down as a precautionary measure. The lock down lasted seven minutes and the suspect never entered school grounds. After the lock down was lifted, the school returned back to its normal activities.

Ayala is wanted for new charges of Resisting Arrest and the active warrant. Anyone with any information as to the location of Ayala is encouraged to contact the Woodland Police Department at (530) 661-7800 or (530) 666-2411. Callers can remain anonymous.
