|On Thursday, June 20, 2013 at approximately 2:45 pm, Woodland Police Dispatch received a 911 telephone call from Carol Barnett, who called to report that two males were burglarizing her garage in the 900 block of College Street. She reported that the two males had just taken two bicycles, and other items belonging to her husband, Stephen Barnett. She described the males for the dispatcher and their descriptions were broadcast to responding officers via radio and in-car computer systems.|
At about 2:56 pm, one of the responding Woodland Police officers located a subject with a matching description near the intersection of Fourth Street & Gum Avenue. That subject was carrying a black duffel bag which he dropped upon seeing the officer in the area.
The officer detained 49-year-old Ronald Bell of 917 Gum Avenue, Woodland on suspicion of burglary. Another officer brought Carol to the area, where she was able to identify property in Bell’s possession that belonged to her and her husband, Stephen.
The other suspect was not located, but is described as a Hispanic male adult in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 lbs., last seen wearing a light colored t-shirt and red shorts.
Ronald Bell was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for violation of California Penal Code §459 (First Degree Burglary) and California Penal Code §466 (Possession of Burglary Tools). Ronald Bell is being held on $60,000 bail.
