On Thursday, January 31, 2013, at approximately 2:37 p.m., Woodland Police Officers were dispatched to Leyva’s Auto Body Repair Shop, located at 39608 Kentucky Avenue, regarding a robbery.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that when the owner and an employee returned to the business at approximately 2:00 p.m. they discovered a white male adult stealing cooper wire from the business. When the business owner and the employee confronted the subject, the subject banished a machete. In fear for their immediate safety, the employee “peppered sprayed” the subject in the face. The subject kicked the employee in the arm and fled the scene on a bicycle. Neither the business owner nor the employee sustained injuries.
At 5:04 p.m. the business owner and the employee spotted the suspect riding his bicycle near the 1300 block of E. Main Street. Woodland Officers responded to the area and contacted the suspect. The suspect was identified as local transient Larry Vincent Kruletz (D.O.B: 06/11/1970). Kruletz was arrested without incident on probable cause for robbery.
Kruletz was booked at the Yolo County Jail and his bail was set at $20,000.
