Community Services offers a Junior Lifeguard program for participants age 11-13. This program is for individuals looking to get a head start on a future as a lifeguard offering training in rescue skills and drills; general pool operations; hands on training during swim lessons, and more. All Junior Lifeguard participants are given an opportunity to complete community service hours outside the program hours.
Participants must be able to swim 50 yards without stopping. Guard Start DOES NOT certify participants as lifeguards.
All classes are held at Charles Brooks Community Swim Center at 155 N. West Street. Registration is accepted at the Community Services Office (not at the pool.) For more information about the Junior Lifeguard program, contact Community Services office at (530) 661-2000.
